2022 ASEC Speakers

Dave Robinson

Access and Recreation Officer, Loch Lomond National Park

For this session, we have two brilliant speakers on the subject of Event Access. Dave Robinson (Recreation and Access Adviser at Loch Lomond National Park) is joined by Matt Neale (Area Manager for the Northern Ranger team in Yorkshire Dales National Park). Dave is an avid Mountain Biker and former Mountain Rescue Team volunteer. Matt is a regular on the Ultra Running scene, with numerous finishes on the Tor des Geants, Tor Des Glaciers, Spine Race, Northern Traverse and the Lakeland 100. Both Dave and Matt have decades of experience managing access in multiple UK National Parks, and they will be sharing their insights for event organisers navigating permissions and advising on current good practice.

Combining her passion for sport and her leadership role at adidas, Lucy will share her insights about brand sponsorship for events.

Chris Barnes

KC, Exchange Chambers

What if there was a serious accident and the affected parties decided to sue you and your event? It is a nightmare scenario for all event organisers. Chris Barnes QC will walk the conference through the legal aspects of such a claim, and discuss the steps that might be taken before, during and after an event to mitigate any risks facing you as the organiser. Chris brings a unique perspective as a barrister specialising in personal injury claims and an experienced adventure sport participant that includes representing Great Britain in Ski Mountaineering and winning the 2017 British Mountain Marathon Championship. This session will likely raise as many questions as it answers, and Chris will join our panel session after the coffee break.
