ASEC Postponed in 2026, returning in 2027

Earlier this year, we began discussing what ASEC 2026 might look like. We had met a few times, had the outline of a plan, and were beginning to think about the kinds of conversations and topics that would be most useful for event organisers working within the adventure sports community. As those discussions developed, we became increasingly excited by the challenging, relevant and high-quality line-up of speakers and conference ideas that were beginning to take shape for 2026.

Not long after that, Ourea Events ceased trading and entered administration. That has, of course, been a very difficult and turbulent period, and it meant that an update about ASEC was pushed down the list while more immediate matters were dealt with.

We have therefore decided to postpone the 2026 edition of ASEC. We want to be clear that this is a postponement, not an end, and we will return in 2027.

Over the past five years, ASEC has become much more than just a conference programme. For us, one of its greatest strengths has always been the opportunity it creates for colleagues in the events industry to come together, share experiences openly, discuss the challenges they are facing, and learn from one another. Those conversations, both inside and outside the formal sessions, are hugely valuable and are something we care about deeply.

We are both determined that ASEC should return in 2027. When it does, we want it to come back with the kind of exciting, challenging and relevant content that has always been at the heart of the conference, along with fresh ideas and important updates for the community it serves.

Thank you for your patience, your understanding, and your continued support. We know ASEC matters to many people, and we remain committed to bringing it back. We look forward to being in touch in early 2027 with more news.

With best wishes,

Shane Ohly and James Thurlow
