BASE to support ASEC 2022

We are delighted to confirm that BASE will be supporting the Adventure Sports Events Conference this year.

In association with the Kendal Mountain Festival, Shane Ohly of Ourea Events and James Thurlow of Open Adventure and Open Tracking are host the second Adventure Sports Events Conference (ASEC), which takes place on Friday 18th November 2022.

BASE Adventure Media's mission is to help people be more adventure active. Made by adventurers and for adventurers of all levels, BASE's magazine, films, and digital media contain beautifully presented inspiring stories, practical guides and motivating ideas covering all adventure sports and travel close to home and far away.

ASEC is held on a not-for-profit basis for the benefit of all adventure sport event organisers. Whether you are a charity event organiser, giant commercial event, or community race, ASEC is the only event specifically for you.

ASEC is also held on the day before the renowned Kendal Mountain Festival bursts into life for the weekend. So, after attending the conference, delegates have the opportunity to spend the weekend in Kendal watching the best adventure sports films, listening to inspiring speakers and socialising with the wider outdoor community.

The Kendal Mountain Festival 10k Trail Run takes place on Saturday morning, so don’t forget your trail running shoes!

The inaugural ASEC held last year received widespread acclaim from delegates, and you can read a summary of the day in the ASEC website archive. Building on this momentum, we have an impressive line-up of speakers for 2022 that will provide another set of expert perspectives on some of the challenges faced by adventure sport event organisers.

Our speakers Include:

  • Matt Neale, Lead Ranger, Yorkshire Dales National Park

  • Dave Robinson, Access and Recreation Officer, Loch Lomond National Park

  • Damian Hall, Elite Ultra Runner

  • Dr Charlotte Hattersley, Event Medical Director

  • Lucy Speakman, Director Outdoor UK, adidas

  • Chris Barnes QC, Exchange Chambers

The full conference programme covers a diverse range of subjects affecting and influencing adventure sport event organisers, and the day will conclude with a panel session, allowing the conference to discuss and reflect on the day’s presentations.

Tickets are on sale and available on a first-come, first-served basis.

With a diverse range of adventure sports activities and locations featured in BASE they are the perfect media partner for the Adventure Sports Events Conference, and we will be giving each delegate a complimentary copy of the magazine at the 2022 conference.
